Exfoliating Brown Sugar Lip Scrub
Though this tasty concoction is completely edible, it's not meant for your tummy! This one's for the lips. With the colder weather months approaching, dry skin is a harsh reality we have to be ready for. Here in South Louisiana, we typically get a handful of cold days instead of months, but it's good to be prepared nonetheless!
I hate the feeling of dry skin and that goes quadruple for dry, chapped lips! To fight that peeling feeling, I like to whip up a batch of this Brown Sugar Lip Scrub. It is a really simple combination of three ingredients....Brown Sugar, Coconut Oil and Honey. That's all, folks! The quantities can be adjusted based on your preference, but I generally do a 3:2:1 ratio, with three parts brown sugar, two parts coconut oil and one part honey. Using two tablespoons of brown sugar, one tablespoon of coconut oil and half a tablespoon of honey will make a nice sized batch, not too big, not too small.
Mix all of the ingredients in a bowl until thoroughly combined. Using your finger, apply a small amount to your lips and rub in small circular and side to side sweeping motions. I also like to rub my lips together with the scrub on. I do this for anywhere from 15 seconds to a minute, then wipe off the rest with a washcloth. Follow up with your favorite lip balm! You can store the extra mixture in the fridge in a sealed container, like the one shown here. I love these little containers! I always find a good use for them when I have them on hand. You can usually find them in the travel size section at the store (by the tiny shampoos and toothpaste) or you can grab them here!
Keep in mind that when you're scrubbing, you don't have to be extremely gentle, but you also don't want to rub your lips raw! Follow your instincts and do what feels right for your lips. You definitely don't want to over exfoliate, so I'd stick to once a week and you should have a super soft kisser!
Thanks for Chewsing!
