French 75
Grab the champagne folks! In just a few short hours, we’ll be toasting to a brand new decade. That’s right, the year 2020 is upon us and while it may feel like we’re diving head first into the future, we can still appreciate the classics.
When it comes to classics, the French 75 is one quintessential bubbly cocktail that never goes out of style. This surprisingly stiff beverage pairs gin (or cognac!) with fresh squeezed lemon juice, a dash of simple syrup and sparkling Champagne.
The French 75 dates back to the World War 1 era and while it’s topped with tasty bubbles, don’t be fooled into thinking this drink is weak. The cocktail packs such a punch, it was often compared to the kick of the French 75mm field gun!
French 75 are best served ice cold! Chill your bottle of bubbly and champagne flutes ahead of time and when combining the gin, lemon juice and simple syrup in your shaker, you gotta shake it like you mean it!
