The GINnifer Coolidge
We finally finished the second season of the HBO hit White Lotus and the wild theme song has playing in our heads on repeat! The Sicilian-based season left us feeling sorry for poor old Tanya but on a lighter note, had us thirsting for an Aperol Spritz! This cocktail is our love letter to apéritifs and the one-of-a-kind Jennifer Coolidge.
Not quite the same as an Aperol Spritz, this tasty beverage combines gin, Aperol, blood orange simple syrup, sparkling citrus water (we like Tangerine LaCroix), and an aromatic blood orange peel. It’s simple yet complex, much like our dear Tanya. Here’s to bitter endings and bitter apéritifs!
The GINnifer Coolidge
Ingredients
- 1 oz. Gin
- 1 oz. Aperol
- 1.5 oz. Blood Orange Simple Syrup
- Sparkling Citrus Water
- Blood Orange Peel
Instructions
- In a mixing glass with ice, stir together gin, Aperol, and Blood Orange simple syrup (see notes below).
- Strain into a cocktail or white wine glass and top with sparkling citrus soda (we like Tangerine LaCroix).
- Finish with a blood orange peel. Enjoy!
Notes
Make a quick blood orange simple syrup by first peeling blood oranges (save the peels for your drink garnish or for infusing other drinks). Then heat equal parts blood orange juice and sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally, just until dissolved. Cool before adding to your cocktail.
